Opening Night

Ok. I really dont know how I find time to write my blog, but I am. I am told that people read these and they like being connected to the inside workings of a show, so here it is.

Ty Buckley is currently loading more gear into Planet Hollywood Hotel. I will be meeting them down at the venue at noon. Kamela Brewer my executie assistant, is setting the last minute guest list for the show tonight. Vendors are selling tickets. Holly McIlroy is getting ready to do a test makeup run on my onstage assistant, Jacky Pagone. I will be going to the venue to do sound checks, last minute lighting changes, last minute run throughs with the cues for Jacky. We will also try and build chemistry between us onstage, but that will also come with time.

I am quite sure we will have some technical issues as well as some snags tonight. It will take a few days to iron out the kinks. I am looking forward to the show, and it will be a fun adventure for all of us.

I will be tied up the rest of the day, so you probably won't hear from me until sometime after my first show.

2 more days until opening!

Linda Blair played a scene in the Exorcist that has me feeling the same sensations. My head is spinning around in circles! LOL.

I just taught hypnotherapy class all day, from 9am to 7pm. Whew. It sure makes it easier to teach when you have such great students. Great students and all, I am still quite exhausted. I communicated with Kamela, my executive assistant throughout the day. She has been a lifesaver for me. She has been out shopping all day for new costuming for the show.

Why new costuming you ask? Well it is ALL Jacky Pagone's fault. Well maybe her parent's fault. Jacky is our new on stage assistant/dancer that we just hired. She is perfect for the job, BUT she is SOOOOO tiny, that none of our costumes fit her! Ok, one did. So, it still is a blessing in disguise because we really needed to get a fresh look for the show, so I am happy about the changes of costumes. I am just being dramatic. :-0

Tix4Tonight begin selling our tickets officially tomorrow. That's exciting! Most of my hypnotherapy students will be attending the show on opening week as well. I am surprisingly handling all the stress and workload well. I am a little tired, but a little self-hypnosis should take care of that. :-)

Have a great night!

The hype is starting!

Ok. So today was a crazy day!

I started my day at 7am. I reviewed and prepared for my Hypnotherapy 301 class that I was to be teaching. I worked on that until about noon. Then my attention needed to focus on a few more details about the show opening on Monday night.

We were able to get Tix4Tonight onboard and signed up today. We are in their system and they are ready to sell our tickets. They have multiple locations including Fashion Show Mall, Hawaiian marketplace, 4 Queens Hotel downtown, Coke Bottle, and the trailer at Riviera.

The rack cards are finished printing. They look pretty good. They are starting to get distributed by our Broker Relations guy Ty. He is a machine. He has visited so many brokers in such a short time. Way to go! Keep it up!

Our box office at Trader Vic's in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood hotel is also set up to take transactions. SO go buy some tickets !

5 days before opening night

I went to bed late last night, and woke up early today. As they say, "No rest for the wicked." There is just so much to do. This morning we are schedule to meet up with Jacky to go through costuming. Following that, we will continue setting up ticket brokers to sell tickets to my show. It seems like there are thousands of brokers in this town! Ugh.

We need to contiue bringing gear to Planet Hollywood Resort. We have probably 2 more loads left to do. We will be modifying the prodution element slightly as the show moves through its first few weeks. As mentioned before, the stage is very small, so that will cause us some issues, so we may have to rebuild. I will know with a day or two if we can make it work.

We are finishing up some last minute graphics today, and then from there, I hope to finish the show set list. What routines am I going to do, in what order, etc.

Most of you know that my business partner John Zulli and I have a hypnotherapy training facility here in Las Vegas. Well, this weekend is part 2 of our 301 class, and John is out of town. Uh-Oh! This means, I will be teaching 25 hours of hypnotherapy this weekend, and then opening a show on Monday night. The timing could not have been worse. John's trip was scheduled months ago, the class 6-8 months ago, and the Vegas show 5 days ago. Hmm... I am a glutton for punishment. :-)

Prepping the Show. The next step...

So, the onstage assistant is hired. The ticket brokers are being established.

Today, we are moving gear into the showroom. We will transform the comedy lounge into a more showroom type atmosphere. Staging, lighting, sound, props, chairs. It's going to be heavy. And we're going to be tired. And it 105 degrees outside. Ugh.

Show business. It's all about the glamour. Yeah, right.

Hypnotist Marc Savard hires new female assistant

After hours of auditioning, we have deciding on hiring a female assistant for the new show opening next Monday. Myself, my executive assistant Kamela, my technical director Ty, and Holly, (a colleage visiting in town who works in the modeling business) all sat down for dinner after the auditions. We decided that we would all pick our first pick, and second pick and then announce it to the group. I was expecting some discrepencies amongst us, but all four unanimously chose Jacqueline Pagone. Yay Jacqueline!

Jacqueline is a sweet and attractive young lady, whose personality packs a punch. She will be a welcomed addition to our team and we are excited about putting her on stage. I know all of you fans who see the show, will love her.

Welcome aboard Jacky!

Preparing for a Vegas Show...

Normally it would take 4-6 weeks to prepare to launch a Vegas show. We have 7 days. :-)

The good news is, we've done it before. Today, we designed the graphics for our rack cards, DVD covers, DVD inserts, Signs, and prepared for our assistant auditions. The show will have a beautiful assistant, and therefore we are having auditions tomorrow. I know it is a little quick, but hey, the show opens next monday!

Tomorrow we will also be lining up the timeshares to be purchasing our tickets bulks. The half price ticket brokers should come online by Thursday, and all of the other ticket brokers should be online Wednesday, including our own box office. So, you could in theory buy a ticket to my show sometime Wednesday! Yay! There is SOOOOO much to do, I will try and keep you posted as things progress.

Vegas Signed Contract!

Ladies and Gentlemen! It is official. I am returning on the Vegas strip! I will be opening next Monday June 30, 2008. I will be performing at the LA Comedy Club above Trader Vic's at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

I know that there had been rumors of my show re-surfacing, well the time has come. I will be performing Monday thru Thursday at 8pm. The show will be in a 140 seat intimate cabaret/comedy setting. I made my career 15 years ago performing in a comedy club, so it is nice to go back to the roots and give an more intimate side of Marc Savard. I am very much looking forward to it, and I look forward to seeing many of you there!

The Greatest Show on Earth!

Well today is my daughter Renee's 2nd birthday. If you wonder how old kids are when they understand birthdays and the whole gift opening idea, it easily is 2 years old! Girls maybe sooner than boys for the obvious reasons, :-) and so Renee definately understands.

She opened up a card that included some tickets to the circus. She was excited but not as excited as her 4 year old sister Isabel. She went crazy! So we loaded the kids up in the truck and headed down to the Orleans Resort and Casino, here in Las Vegas, NV.

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey presents the Greatest Show on Earth! And that it was! Kids smiling everywhere, $7 box of popcorn, overpriced toys, the smell of elephant shit, it was fun for the whole family! Haha.

The kids really loved the show and surprisingly were able to stay focused on the circus the whole time. We are glad we took them.

I think I am going to change the name of my show to Hypnotist Marc Savard's greatest hypnosis show on earth! I will have clowns in the pre-show, acrobats during the induction, and elephant shit scent in the air. As the circus did, it will guarantee me a smiling audience.

Iron Man Movie

Finally. I have found some free time (well actually just made some) and went and saw the movie Iron Man. My video/sound guy Ty went and saw it and ranted and raved about it. So, I went to check out the film for myself with a friend that I wanted to catch up with, and of course enjoy spending time with.

Tony Stark is the coolest character in the theaters right now. I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of him. He was definately cast right for the part. The special effects were fantastic and the story was decent as well. I thouroughly enjoyed the movie. Well done. Marvel studios have plenty more characters in their vault, so I am interested to see what they have coming out in the next few years. I was never a comic book reader growing up, but I am sure enjoying the films about them. Keep 'em coming!

Maybe I need to write a movie about a superhero hypnotist that hypnotizes bad guys to give back all the money they stole from the bank. Would it be unethical to withhold a 15% restocking and comission fee? :-)

2008 Star Award - Hypnotist

I sincerely hope that all the fathers out there had a wonderful father's day. Here is what I did on mine.

I have 2 beautiful daughters that I cherise so deeply. Isabel will be 4 next month and Renee will be 2 this coming friday. They greeted me in bed yesterday morning with all the hype and excitement that Christmas day could bring. To them, father's day is a huge deal. We snuggled, we wrestled, and we laughed. Just me and my girls. It was nice. After an hour of them jumping on the bed, I realized there is no more sleeping planned for me. I wake and get ready for my day.

Shortly after lunch, I had to attend the Stage Hypnotists of the World Conference which was combined with a stage hypnotist safety course for an insurance carrier that I use. It was really neat to see the some 75 hypnotists assembled there. I have seen hypnotherapists assembled for a conference, but never this many stage hypnotists.

The course was completed, the exam given, and my day at the conference was nearing a close. They wrapped up the conference with the awards ceremony. Well, well, well...when they called the final award for the Stage Hypnotists of the World, 2008 Star Award which is awarded only to 1 hypnotist in the world that displays exceptional skills in presenting shows that are educational, ethical and fascinating, I was ecstatic to hear the name, Marc Savard! What a great honor to be given the first ever Star Award.

Thank you to Jerry Valley, Tommy Vee, Alex Mitt, and anyone and everyone who was involved and all the support of friends, family and fans. I accept this award with great honor and thanks to all the volunteers whom I have hypnotised. Without you, I guess I would be alone on stage with a bunch of empty chairs.

I will remember this father's day for a long time.
